NOMOS has expanded its Club line with a bigger sibling: the Club 38, a 38.5mm hand-wound model presented as one of the brand’s 2026 novelties. According to Monochrome, the new reference arrives as an additional option in the collection rather than a successor, and it can be ordered right away — EUR 1,520 for the silvery-white version and EUR 1,560 for the dark grey ruthenium dial.

Where the Club Comes From

Since its 2007 introduction under reference 701, the Club has functioned as NOMOS’s entry-level model. It was typically priced well under EUR 1,500 and drew its power from the in-house hand-wound Alpha and its derivatives, the same base engine found in the 35mm Tangente. Nomos discontinued the line in 2017, then brought it back in 2023 under the same reference number with minor updates. Those curious about the brand’s broader design language will find more in our NOMOS Glashütte review.

The 38.5mm Case, Measured

The new model’s case is polished stainless steel, 38.5mm in diameter with a lug-to-lug span of 46.7mm. Thickness comes to 8.4mm with the closed caseback and 8.5mm when the sapphire back is specified — buyers choose between a screwed steel back and a display back, per Monochrome. A domed sapphire crystal sits on top, and water resistance is rated at 100m.

Head to Head With the 36mm Classic

The existing Club measures 36mm across, 8.2mm thick and 44.3mm long, and it too carries a 100m rating. Monochrome describes the larger version as “not a replacement,” positioning the two side by side within the range. Whether the step from a 44.3mm to a 46.7mm lug-to-lug suits a given wrist is difficult to judge from a spec sheet alone; the daily game at Watchdle is one way to sharpen that eye for proportions.

Silvery-White Meets a New Ruthenium Dial

Two variants launch. Reference 769 features a galvanised white silver-plated dial, blackened hands filled with red-toned Super-LumiNova, and grey Arabic numerals outlined in black, with luminous material and a domed profile. Reference 770 takes a different route: a dark grey galvanised dial with ruthenium plating, rhodium-plated polished hands, white Super-LumiNova, and numerals outlined in yellow. The ruthenium dial is the newcomer here — until now the Club existed only in silvery-white, according to Monochrome. Both versions indicate hours, minutes and a snailed small seconds.

Calibre DUW 4001 at the Core

Power comes from the hand-wound calibre DUW 4001, which is based on the Peseux 7001 architecture. It offers a 53-hour power reserve, runs on 17 jewels, beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and measures 23.3mm across and 2.6mm high. Its equipment includes a stop-seconds mechanism — handy for halting the small seconds while setting the time precisely — along with the in-house Swing System escapement, a blue balance spring, ribbing and blued screws. The balance wheel sits at the centre of that regulating assembly, and our explainer covers how it governs a movement’s rate.

Cordovan Strap and Closing Details

Both dials ship on a Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap, secured by a steel pin buckle.

FAQ

Is the Club 38 a limited edition?

No. Monochrome lists the model as part of the permanent collection, so it is not tied to a single release window and remains orderable beyond the 2026 novelty season.

How much does the sapphire caseback cost?

The display back adds EUR 220 to the price of the standard configuration, according to Monochrome. It is one of two caseback choices offered on the Club 38.

What strap width does the Club 38 use?

The technical specifications list a lug width of 20mm, matching the Horunden… the Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap fitted at the factory.
