Svea Atelier has announced the Monolith, its first watch. The brand is based in Landskrona in the south of Sweden and was founded by Francis Jacquerye, former head designer for Longines. The Monolith is a quartz-driven dress watch created with mid-century design in mind. It is offered in five variants across two collections, priced from €680, available now across those two collections, with delivery expected in January 2027.

Core Collection And Atelier Series

The Monolith collection comprises three Core Collection watches and two Atelier Series watches, the latter described as an Annual Limited Series. The Core Collection includes the Lattice, which has a silver linen-texture dial; the Fjord, which uses a deep blue gloss dial; and the Oxblood, which pairs a gold PVD case and bracelet with a dark maroon gloss dial. The Atelier Series includes the Tiger Eye, which sets a warm banded golden-brown Tiger Eye dial in a gold PVD-coated stainless-steel case, and the Onyx, which has a rich, deep black dial and gold hands. Core Collection watches are priced at €680 excl. VAT, while Atelier Series watches are €780 excl. VAT. Each watch is presented in an angular burl wood presentation box.

Five-Sided Case, Bracelet, And Dial

The Monolith’s case and bracelet have a horizontally brushed finish, with polished bevelled edges on each bracelet link. The case measures 27.5mm wide, 27mm tall, and 5.5mm thick, and water resistance is rated to 50 metres. The dial is five-sided and follows the case shape. A sapphire crystal with six layers of anti-reflective treatment applied to the inner side sits slightly recessed from the case and is set within a bevelled frame. Baton-style hour and minute hands are creased down the middle, with an applied logo at twelve and SWEDEN at six o’clock. The crown sits at 3 o’clock; it is a recessed, signed push-pull crown that sits completely flush with the case. The bracelet links are secured by screws located on the underside, and the single foldover clasp is branded and features extruded sections that mimic the links. The caseback is engraved with the brand and model name and made in Sweden.

A watch display box is a tidy way to store and show a few pieces.
